Prevent Oily Skin
Prevent oily skin by balancing the pH of your skin, and achieve a much more normal skin type.
How to treat oily skin; Wash your face no more than twice a day, morning and night with a mild cleanser which does not contain alcohol, perfume or other additives.
Oily skin treatments; should be gentle, if you are using harsh soaps you can actually increase oil. Using a cleanser which contains natural essential oils like, lemon and jojoba are great for helping restore oil balance.
Many dermatologists recommend using cleansing products which contain acids such as, salicylic acid, glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These acids are often found in products for acne skin care, yet are fine to use for oily skin.
You may have to experiment until you find a cleanser that does not leave your face feeling oily. Clear cleansers usually work better than creamy ones.
Wash your face in warm water, not too hot or too cold, as either way can cause broken capillaries.
Using a toner on oily skin can sometimes increase the oil production in the skin, so be careful if you are using one. If you like the feel of a toner on your skin try to look for one that contains one of the acids mentioned above.
When exfoliating your face the best scrubs to use are ones which contain Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta hydroxy Acid (BHA), both of these ingredients will help even out skin tone, prevent pores from clogging and help reduce fine lines. Regular exfoliation will help reduce skin from becoming congested and clogged.
At least once or twice a week use a face mask, clay is a good one for oily skin.
Always use an oil free moisturizer which contains an SPF. The best makeup to use should be an oil free foundation and makeup.
Look for products labelled ‘non comedongenic’ and ‘oil free’, and use a powder blush and eyeshadow instead of cream.
How to treat oily skin, helps if you drink plenty of water, and include vitamins C, B, E and calcium.
The good news is, trying to prevent oily skin becomes less of a problem as you age, as skin tends to lose its oiliness.
